Ajay, Congratulations, your proposal has been accepted!

Ajay,

"Congratulations, your proposal has been accepted!"

That's the subject line in the email that I received at 1:04 a.m.

Wow, what a day.

Let me take you through Day 4 of launching my web design business. As you can see, I landed my first client. WOOO HOOO!

Here's how it went down.

I had a lead come in at 11:53 a.m. this morning. I quickly replied to see if we could set up a time to talk about their project.

At 3:37 p.m. I got a reply. We exchanged emails and set up a meeting for 4:30 p.m.

In just 18 minutes I gathered the details of the project. Key takeaway from the meeting? They were on a tight deadline. I could smell "blood in the water."

I told them I would get a proposal out to them asap. This was a fairly small project, but was beyond my area of expertise. I needed help and reached out to a contractor that I had worked with in the past. I got a quote from the contractor and then quickly texted the client to let him know I would send over the proposal later that evening.

Then life got in the way.

Long story, short - I had some family commitments (my wife had roped me into playing on a coed soccer team and we had a double header) and I did not get a chance to send the proposal until 11:17 p.m. that evening.

Then at 1:04 a.m. the client accepts the proposal. Technically that's Day 5 but I thought we would go ahead and celebrate. :)

My son and I were still up, playing video games. (Shhh. Don't tell my wife.)
