Another lesson I learned this past month is the importance of speed. If you want to be successful in business, you have to be quick. Especially when it comes to responding to prospects and customers.
For example.
I noticed a huge difference in the response rate when I responded immediately to new leads coming in. I also stumbled on a research study published in the Harvard Business Review. Check this out.
"You are 400% less likely to qualify a lead if you contact them after 10 minutes versus 5 minutes."
Think about it this way. When a lead fills out a form on your website and hits the submit button, they are red hot. They are ready to talk and ready to get more information from you. Within the first 5 minutes you are still fresh on their mind.
But then that lead starts to go cold. After just 10 minutes they have moved on to something else in their busy schedule and your chances of connecting with them drop significantly. After 30 minutes it's even worse. If you let a whole day go by, you will have to remind them who you are and will have to re-ignite their interest.
Let 3 days go by and one of two things has happened. They are already working with someone else. Or they have lost interest and you will basically have to resurrect them from the dead.
I know it's frustrating, but this is business.
I have been making an effort to improve my response times and it is already paying off. My pipeline of qualified leads is filling up faster than ever.
